World Premiere - commissioned by the Daniel Barenboim Foundation
Young Israeli conductor and pianist Lahav Shani—recently named Zubin Mehta’s successor at the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra—made his double debut at the Pierre Boulez Saal last season with a solo recital and conducting the Staatskapelle Berlin. Now he leads the Boulez Ensemble in the season’s second world premiere: a violin concerto by Syrian-American composer Kareem Roustom, with Michael Barenboim as the soloist. Two chamber music works by Janáček and Brahms complete the program.
The world premiere of Kareem Roustom´s work is commissioned by the Daniel Barenboim Foundation.
