A Day with Jörg Widmann

A Walk Around the Building

For Jörg Widmann, the Pierre Boulez Saal and the Barenboim-Said Akademie have become a kind of home away from home: he is closely associated with the institutions as composer, clarinetist, and teacher. More than reason enough to put him center stage for this year’s Open House on April 27: from 10 am to 4 pm, his work can be explored from many different perspectives in all parts of the building, for free. Join us for a full day to listen, watch, and discover!

Casalot Catering provides freshly prepared Arabic snacks throughout the day.

In four concert programs, each presented twice in the Pierre Boulez Saal, students of the Barenboim-Said Akademie will perform some of Widmann’s chamber music works as well as pieces by composers that are especially close to his heart. Jörg Widmann himself can be heard as clarinetist in his solo Fantasie and in Schubert’s Der Hirt auf dem Felsen.
