Four poetic experiences from the Arab world come together in an extraordinary reading: Syrian Rasha Omran, Palestinian Ghassan Zaqtan, Egyptian Yaser Elzayat, and Adel Abbas Alkhazzam from the United Arab Emirates present the “poem of life”—the moment when poetry becomes fragile and disguised, expressing a point of view, not life in general, but the abandoned, neglected, and forgotten things in life. These experiences belong to different countries, generations, and schools of thought, but in their diversity try to achieve a balance between poetry as a special language and as the language of the people.
