Music by Arcangelo Corelli, Ludwig van Beethoven, Pierre Boulez, Astor Piazzolla, and others
In the orchestra they sit far apart, and at first glance they don’t seem to have a lot in common at all: one is made out of wood, the other of brass. One plays high notes, the other low ones. One is loud, the other much softer…But at the Pierre Boulez Saal, violin and tuba now take the spotlight together. To make their unusual musical partnership even more interesting, they are joined by several percussion instruments. The repertoire also holds a few surprises with works by Arcangelo Corelli, Ludwig van Beethoven, Pierre Boulez, and Astor Piazzolla, among others.
