“A sensual listening experience - Berlin’s new Pierre Boulez Hall is a space that demands more than mere listening. It calls you to hear.
There is something about being in Gehry’s new space that makes everything warm and resonant and comforting.
The importance of Berlin’s new Pierre Boulez Hall transcends its intimate size.“
„Berlin has gained a wonderful new concert hall. It is a place of intimacy and, most of all, of well-being.
The acoustics have, most of all, one characteristic: warm-hearted.”
„There can be no doubt: Architect Frank Gehry has succeeded in landing a coup. (…) clear, concise, with a velvet resonance.“
Los Angeles Times
„The new hall is a place for music to visibly — and audibly! — make a powerfully public cultural statement.
The Elbphilharmonie is the concert hall that Hamburg needs. The Pierre Boulez Saal is what the world needs.“
"It is one of the advantages of the new Berlin concert hall that its extraordinary architecture enables visual communication not only from the audience to the stage, but also within the audience.
The sound unfolds clearly and transparently, coupled with great directness and immediacy, as if one was sitting amidst the music.
In this hall, the spirit and soul of music will take center stage."
"The warm acoustics of the PBS enchant"
"A real sonic experience ... Sounds of incredible density and transparency."
"This is what hope sounds like ... all possibilities and energies of the hall were summed up in Boulez' Sur Incises ... a joyful hurricane of hypnotically staggered tonal effects"
