It is one of the highlights of the clarinet repertoire and a landmark of contemporary music: Pierre Boulez’s Dialogue de l’ombre double for clarinet and live electronics, created at IRCAM in Paris in 1984, will be presented as a lecture concert at the Pierre Boulez Saal. Clarinetist and composer Jörg Widmann, whose own career was influenced by this score in a significant way, will give an introduction and then perform the entire piece – a musical tour de force ideally suited to the intimate oval space of the hall.
