With the Barocktage, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, next-door neighbor of the Pierre Boulez Saal, launches a new programmatic focus consisting of ten days of opera performances and concerts, with music by Claudio Monteverdi and Jean-Philippe Rameau at its center. Three events featuring prominent artists will take place at the Pierre Boulez Saal as part of the two institutions’ ongoing cooperation.
Swiss vocal ensemble Voces Suaves combines Monteverdi madrigals with Austrian composer Beat Furrer’s Sei voci, written in 2017, whose text is based on the “Coro delle Baccanti” from Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo. The following evening, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin presents an anthology of instrumental music from the 16th and 17th centuries. Jordi Savall, his Capella Reial de Catalunya, and Le Concert des Nations take on madrigals of love and war and instrumental works by Monteverdi.
