Matthias Pintscher’s NUR, which had its world premiere at the Pierre Boulez Saal in January 2019, returns to the program with the composer conducting and Barenboim-Said Akademie graduate Nathalia Milstein as soloist. The piece is framed by three other works that create a fascinating contrast: the lavish, late-Romantic sound world of Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll is juxtaposed with the extremely dense and concise tonal language of Schoenberg’s Five Orchestral Pieces and Webern’s Concerto for Nine Instruments.
During rehearsals for the world premiere of Matthias Pintscher's NUR at the Pierre Boulez Saal in 2019, the composer and conductor spoke with Daniel Barenboim about the process of creating the work and its meaning. Watch the video below to find out more.
