Komm, Jesu, komm! BWV 229
Composed not for church services but for private patrons, Johann Sebastian Bach’s motets are highly individual and diverse works that telescope the entire range of Baroque choral music into a small, concise form—from multiple voices interwoven in intricate counterpoint to chorale-style singing. With their complete recording of the six motets, Cantus Cölln and its musical director Konrad Junghänel have set a standard rarely equaled over the past 20 years. Joined by an instrumental ensemble, the singers now present the complete cycle of these works at the Pierre Boulez Saal.
Approximate running time: 1h 30m with one intermission
