Scandinavian Folk Music
Three of the four musicians of the Danish String Quartet have been performing together since their childhood, and to this day the ensemble brings a special kind of joy to its music-making. Equally at home in the classical repertoire, contemporary works, and the Scandinavian folk music tradition, the quartet has chosen a program that brings together all three aspects for its debut in Berlin’s new concert hall—from Haydn, the creator of the string quartet genre, to Danish composer Hans Abrahamsen’s 10 Preludes, written in 1973, to their own folk song arrangements.
