Isabelle Faust is joined by Kristian Bezuidenhout, Elizabeth Kenny, and Kristin von der Goltz to present a panorama of virtuoso Baroque masterworks for violin: the compositions of Salzburg kapellmeister Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber and Dresden court musician Johann Paul Westhoff, who were among the leading violinists of their generation, had a significant impact on the development of violin music at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, not least on the sonatas of Johann Sebastian Bach.
