According to Jörg Widmann, Pierre Boulez’s Dialogue de l’ombre double is a “Mount Everest of the clarinet repertoire.” Last season, he performed the piece—written in 1984 and scored for solo clarinet and live electronics—in a lecture concert at the Pierre Boulez Saal. Due to the overwhelming response, there will now be an encore presentation.

The program includes an introduction with musical examples in English as well as a brief introduction in German, followed by a full performance of the piece.
