The ensemble Les Vents Français brings together five of today’s most accomplished wind virtuosos. In addition to Elliott Carter’s Esprit Rude / Esprit Doux and Philippe Hersant’s Osterlied, which was premiered by the ensemble together with pianist Éric Le Sage, their Pierre Boulez Saal program includes Mozart’s Quintet for Winds and Piano as well as works by French composers from the early 20th century, a time when musicians such as Jacques Ibert, Darius Milhaud, and Francis Poulenc reinvigorated the genre of chamber music for winds.
Listen to the world premire of Hersant's “Osterlied” sextet played by Les Vents Francaise and Eric Le Sage on the piano.
Recorded in Salon at the Festival International de Musique de Chambre de Provence, August 2016. Production: Olivier Herman (Wash Productions)
