Electronic Music Design and Live Electronics
It was at the house of a musician friend in Buenos Aires in 1949 that they first met: Daniel Barenboim was seven, Martha Argerich eight years old. They soon began to play chamber music together. Since then, their parallel—yet very different—careers have taken them around the world, and to this day their joint performances are imbued with a special sense of playfulness and intimacy. Following several previous duo appearances at the Pierre Boulez Saal, they now open the season together for the first time with music by Claude Debussy. In the second part of the program, Daniel Barenboim performs the world premiere of a new work for piano and live electronics that Philippe Manoury has written for him.
