Robert Schumann
Davidsbündlertänze Op. 6
“Etwas hahnbüchen”—slightly outrageously—reads one of the telling performance markings in Robert Schumann’s Davidsbündlertänze, one of his most personal works, written shortly before his marriage to Clara Wieck. In her solo recital, Mitsuko Uchida contrasts it with music by Mozart and a selection of pieces from György Kurtág’s Játékok—to date, the Hungarian composer has published ten volumes of these colorful musical “games.”
