Each in their own way, Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci and Terri Lyne Carrington have all been deeply influenced by the work and personality of legendary saxophonist Wayne Shorter. The three Grammy-award winning musicians come together at the Pierre Boulez Saal as “Children of the Light” to pay tribute to their friend and mentor. The concert places Shorter’s own works next to new pieces inspired by his unique spirit, as Pérez notes: “You say ‘Thank you’ to a great man like Wayne not by imitating what he does but by playing off the language he created.”
