Claudio Monteverdi's revolutionary effect on the history of music wasn't limited to opera. The collection he published as Vespro della Beata Vergine in 1610 ranks among the towering monuments of sacred choral music. Justin Doyle will lead the Capella della Torre and the RIAS Kammerchor in this 14-part work, which combines virtuosity and spiritual vision, ancient technique and compositional innovation. An additional part of the program, Monteverdi's Missa in illo tempore will be heard in St. Hedwigs Cathedral, adjacent to the Pierre Boulez Saal.
