“Bach is the beginning and end of all music.” Max Reger’s tribute to the great Baroque composer might also serve as a motto for the concert series performed by Sir András Schiff in late December and early January. Starting in the hall’s opening season in 2017, Schiff has presented a multi-year cycle of Bach’s keyboard works at the Pierre Boulez Saal. The project now comes to its conclusion with a grand reprise that offers audiences the unique opportunity to experience Bach’s artistry over the course of seven nights.
The concert on January 6 also features Schaghajegh Nosrati. A graduate of the Barenboim-Said Akademie and currently assistant to Sir András Schiff, she has won international acclaim for her performances of the music of Bach and will join Schiff in the two-piano version of Contrapunctus 13 from The Art of Fugue.
In order to offer audiences deeper insights into the complex world of Bach’s The Art of Fugue, the artist has decided to give a pre-concert introduction with musical examples. The talk will begin at 5.30 pm in the Pierre Boulez Saal and will last approximately one hour. Admission is free with a valid ticket for the following concert.
