Tabea Zimmermann and Javier Perianes explore valedictory works that speak of retrospection and leave-taking: their selection ranges from Brahms’s late Sonata in E-flat major to Britten’s melancholy Dowland variations, to Shostakovich’s final composition. Solace by Israeli composer Yinam Leef (born in 1953) provides a motto for this intimate duo program.
