Lebanese-American pianist Tarek Yamani—previously heard at the Pierre Boulez Saal during the 2017 Arabic Music Days together with the Kinan Azmeh CityBand—returns with his solo program The Afro-Tarab Pairings Project. Drawing from his rich repertoire that ranges from Arabic music to jazz and Afro-Cuban music, Yamani pairs pieces that seem to come from completely different musical worlds—and thus lets us hear unexpected connections and similarities.
