Piano Trio No. 2 in C minor Op. 66
Trio Gaspard, founded in 2010, performs a colorful selection of works drawing on the rich heritage of the piano trio genre through the centuries. Mendelssohn’s C-minor Trio is contrasted with Litaniae, written in the aftermath of World War I by Swiss-born Paul Juon, who lived and worked in Berlin for many years. Music by Greek composer Nikos Skalkottas, a student of Schoenberg, and Charlotte Bray’s That Crazed Smile, composed in 2014, complete the program.
Approximate running time: 1h 30m without intermission
