In the orchestra they sit far apart, and at first glance they don’t seem to have a lot in common at all: one is made out of wood, the other out of brass, one plays high notes, the other low ones… But at the Pierre Boulez Saal, violin and tuba now take the spotlight together: Tubalirum is a concert of seemingly very different instruments that must first get to know each other and become friends before they can really play together. Their unusual musical partnership is made even more interesting with the addition of various percussion instruments, and the repertoire holds a few surprises as well, with works by Corelli, Beethoven, and Pierre Boulez, among others.
