Twelve years ago, Vincent Courtois created an unusual trio in which the French musician’s cello is joined by the tenor saxophones of Robin Fincker and Daniel Erdmann. The group has since performed countless concerts and explored both familiar and unexpected musical paths. For his Pierre Boulez Saal debut, Courtois has also invited pianist Colin Vallon and cellist Éric-Maria Couturier. In different combinations from duo to quintet, the five musicians will present several world premieres as well as fully improvised music and newly arranged pieces from two of Courtois’s albums.
